DANCE ON THE TEATHER competition live broadcast
The contest
The Burgos & New York Contest, a projection platform for the new values of choreographic creation.
Organized by the Contemporary Ballet of Burgos with the collaboration of the Municipal Institute of Culture and Tourism of the Burgos City Council, the Ministry of Culture and Sports, Junta de Castilla y León and under the direction of the choreographer Alberto Estébanez, the Burgos & New York Contest promotes the art of choreography and creative values that inspire dance and the arts of movement of the 21st century. This event, which brings together a prestigious jury every year, makes Burgos a showcase for the latest choreographic proposals and trends.
The Contest maintains the features and content that have configured its hallmarks from the beginning, defending that profile of "creator" who, in an outstanding way, is capable of contributing lines of work, research and development to dance that promote development and the evolution of the arts of movement. Only in this way is it justified that the winner (new or consolidated) can deserve the important economic award and that his work is registered among the great world creators of the list of honors held in this competition.
The Contest maintains a clear commitment to ‘Dance on the street’ through two differentiated competitions: ‘Dancing with stones’ and ‘Dance on Camino de Santiago’. This last section proposes a rereading of the cultural and historical heritage based on the selection of pieces inspired by the Camino de Santiago as it passes through Castilla y León -and this year as a novelty in Galicia-.
Also, the festival attends to 'Urban Art' with the articulation of two competitions: 'Street Art – Muralism' and 'Moving Spaces', which constitute essential vehicles to bring all forms of dance and current creation closer to the youth and a space for attract and retain new audiences.
Network of alliances and parallel activities
The festival also maintains important national and international collaborations and links that allow the winning works to be shown in a framework of cooperation and work opportunities for the selected choreographers. It is not surprising that reference brands such as Harlequin Floors, world leader in dance floors, offer us their linocuts to guarantee the maximum professionalism and safety of the performers on stage.
These five competitions are accompanied by the international choreography and dance course 'International Summer Dance in Burgos', exhibitions, video-dance, conferences, free workshops or expanded actions in the key of inclusive dance, with which Alzheimer's, disability, marginalized groups, minors at risk of exclusion or the immigrant population. And, of course, it is a meeting place where artists and the public coincide, making the philosophy of this competition capitalize:
"Dance, backbone in the exchange of emotions, ideas and resources of performing art capable of linking love between cultures and peoples"
