DIVA explores the enduring figure of the diva and her idealization in popular culture. The piece is inspired by the diva par excellence, Marilyn Monroe, and offers a look at the private and often solitary life of these icons of fame in the 1950s. The work seeks to reveal the introverted reality that hides behind the glamour, the media attention and public idealization, highlighting the contrast between what the public sees and what the divas actually experience, and highlighting the often negative influence of male figures in their lives.
