WORKS IN COMPETITION
FLOWERSHEADS | ELÍAS AGUIRRE (SPAIN)
PERFORMERS: DAVID CANDELA, ADRIÁN BOLAÑOS Y ELÍAS AGUIRRE
MUSIC: ED IS DEAD
Three baroque characters that symbolize an ecosystem of fluctuating equilibrium.
equilibrium. Insects, flowers, amphibians, fish and a whole amalgam of creatures come to life through the precision and detail of their movements, where reality and fantasy converge in a peculiar "garden of delights".
Flowerheads is a contemporary dance piece that exudes the pleasure of the ephemeral and the fragility of ecosystems. The music, an original creation by Ed is Dead, emphasizes its dreamlike character by generating electronic sound environments that commune with nature.
DRAUMA | PAULINA ESPINOSA AND MARIANA OLIVEIRA (PORTUGAL / MEXICO)
PERFORMERS: PAULINA ESPINOSA AND MARIANA OLIVEIRA
We are a world of characters impacted by a series of traumas, traumas that have scarred us since childhood. In Drauma (from Trauma to Drama) we explore the four responses to trauma: fight, flee, freeze and fawn, in the form of a fun and emotional but no less dramatic journey through the experiential memories of two characters with equally different but similar cultural contexts, placing the viewer in a musically friendly landscape, sometimes funny and that only once the piece is over will make them reflect on their own experiences with trauma.
PAN Y ROSAS | TINA MARTÍ (SPAIN)
PERFORMERS: PALOMA RAMOS, ÁMBAAR MURGIA, ESTHER CALDERÓN AND TINA MARTÍ
MUSIC: OWN, CREATED BY CRISTINA LÓPEZ
"PAN Y ROSAS" is a struggle for the right to live, not simply to exist. "We want bread and roses too" advocates for rejecting a life limited and forced to mere subsistence. The project "Bread and roses" emerged in 2021 in the form of a video dance, as a proposal to investigate a possible harmony between urban, contemporary dances and flamenco. Two years later, we decided to take this proposal to the stage to deepen the space where different movements from the four PERFORMERS converge with the musical language of Cristina López.
HONEST | KIKO LÓPEZ (SPAIN)
INTÉRPRETE: KIKO LÓPEZ
MUSIC: ‘HONESTLY’, BY FINK. ‘MIND POWER’ BY BLACK SEA DAHU
In this emotive narrative, the protagonist immerses himself in the animation of an object, unleashing an inner challenge that explores the intrinsic beauty of the human being. Through this journey, he confronts the terrains of play and rejection, revealing a fragile and honest look. The relationship between the protagonist and the object becomes a mirror of self-acceptance, exploring the complexities of humanity. The story is a moving ode to authenticity and the discovery of the most beautiful side of each individual.
REVELACIÓN | LÁZARO ALEJANDRO BATISTA BURUNATE (CUBA)
PERFORMERS: GREYS ROSALES PÉREZ, AMALIA MARÍA VERSAGUI AND LÁZARO ALEJANDRO BATISTA
MUSIC: ‘SONG IN THE BEACH’ BY ARCADE FIRE. ‘LIVING ROOM SONGS’ BY ÓLAFUR ARNALDS. ‘ÁMAME COMO SOY’ BY PABLO MILANÉS
“REVELACIÓN” is a work that glimpses how our shadows leave the doors open to submerge us in them. Providing a clear and accurate path to the light, they sweep, like water in flow, everything useless in its path, cleaning the Soul, bringing out all the beauty we have inside, loving and accepting us as we are.
EN CUCLILLAS | COLETIVO PREMOHS. ANTONIO LEÓN, PALOMA
RAMOS, MARTA REGUERA AND ISAAC SUÁREZ (SPAIN)
PERFORMERS: ANTONIO LEÓN, PALOMA RAMOS, MARTA REGUERA AND ISAAC SUÁREZ
MUSIC: ORIGINAL PRODUCTION BY ROKKO ROSANEGRA
There is something hidden in our memory, where there is also something broken. What is hidden changes form, from flamenco to urban, from the proper to the common. What is broken has less weight, and the trompe l'oeil of Al Andalus allows us to tell you one thing, although I really want to tell you another. We have aje, we like to have fun, to be the mestizaje of all our way, to be heart and not to miss the rhythm. "Tú te acuerdā de lo que te e dixo? Ea, pô eço, no te bayâ a orbidá.”
